About EIEI ACOFI 2022

The Colombian Association of Engineering Schools (ACOFI, acronym in Spanish) will hold a new edition of the ACOFI International Engineering Education Meeting (EIEI ACOFI 2022) from September 13 to 16, 2022, with the central theme «New realities for engineering education: curriculum, technology, environment and development”. We will bring together deans, academic and administrative directors, engineering professors and students, representatives of the productive sector, State entities, union entities and society, who will interact to study, analyze, debate and reflect on the challenges and opportunities that the world presents us.

The EIEI ACOFI 2022 will carry out lectures, panels and dialogues with experts on the central theme and will also feature the activities that it has maintained in each of its versions associated with engineering education, trends in teaching strategies – learning and the commitment of engineering to development, on a large stage that will accommodate exhibitors and participants from different places, to share their knowledge and experience. In the same way, workshops on engineering issues and technical activities will be held, which will become the appropriate spaces to meet and share experiences and proposals.

The EIEI ACOFI 2022 will have different academic activities: the presentation of papers on engineering education, the ninth version of the Engineering Students Forum (FCEI), the fourth version of the National Meeting of Doctoral Students in Engineering (ENEDI), the presentation of research advances in engineering and for the first time a formal space to learn about good practices on ethics in engineering. The EIEI ACOFI 2022 is the opportunity to interact with companies, government, organizations and representatives of institutions that teach engineering programs in one of the most important settings for engineering education in the world.

Leading personalities of engineering are invited with the purpose of generating an environment for deepening knowledge in the different areas of the profession, to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences, establish cooperation ties and provide the opportunity to conclude inter-institutional agreements.

The ACOFI Board of Directors invites the entire academic engineering community, represented by its schools, undergraduate and postgraduate programs, institutes, centers and research groups; businessmen and associations related to engineering; to local, regional, national and international governments; to regional and global organizations; to the information media and society interested in knowing how engineering education promotes and works for the advancement of our society.

General objective

The EIEI ACOFI 2022 is an academic meeting for the study, analysis and reflection on how engineering schools and programs will address the challenges for engineering education, technology and the environment for development.

Specific objectives

• Have an academic meeting so that deans, academic directors, professors, administrative personnel and engineering students, representatives of the productive and governmental sectors and society as a whole, present their initiatives, experiences and contributions for the permanent search for development.
• Know how the contributions of engineering schools and programs and engineering education are essential for the advancement of society.
• Propose strategies that from the curriculum contribute to the strengthening of engineering from its formation, considering the aspects of the discipline contributing to development and sustainability.
• Recognize the contributions that technology and the correct use of natural resources offer for the construction of opportunities for engineering.
• Strengthen the academic work of engineering schools and programs in relations with the State, organizations and society.

City of the EIEI ACOFI 2022

Rafael Núñez International Airport

The international airport of Cartagena de Indias is one of the most important in Colombia, due to the tourist movement. It has international flights from America and Europe. It is transited annually on average, more than five million passengers.

The airport is located within the urban area of ​​Cartagena de Indias to the north of the downtown area, in the Crespo neighborhood. Buses, minibuses and taxis connect the airport with the different urban sectors of the city of Cartagena de Indias. The taxi service operates 24 hours a day, while the bus service operates from 06:50 to 23:45.

There are car rental counters of the most recognized companies. The airport also offers ATM cash machines, currency exchange service, VIP area, public telephones, free Wi-Fi Internet access and other services.
