Hans Dieter Betz is a German Professor Emeritus of experimental physics of the Munchen University. He is regarded the world over as a leading and renowned expert in the field of lightning detection. The system stems from the long-standing research work carried out by Prof. Hans-Dieter Betz at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. In the year 2002, nowcast GmbH was founded for the purpose of marketing this technology. Since then, the lightning-detection system has been successfully offered all over the world under the brand name of LINET (Lightning Detection Network).
